Back to the Drawing Board

Shoulder Press 1 RM

AMRAP Push Press at 80% of 1 RM for 3 minutes x 2 rounds

Helen
3 rounds for time:
400m run
21 KB swings @ 24kg
12 pull-ups

Here we go again. Time to get off my fat ass.

120lb was my best shoulder press today. Did 9 then 12 push-press at 95lb. First round I did more jerk overhead at a faster pace and gassed myself out.

For Helen I just tried to keep moving. Slow and steady wins the race? 12:38 total time. Round times were 1: 3:37 (3:37), 2: 7:57 (4:20), and 3: 12:38 (4:41).

Proper Like

"Helen"
400m Run
21 Kettlebell Swings, 53#
12 Pull-Ups

8:56 today... surprised to still get sub-9 with the gimp back. 2nd and 3rd rounds of swings were done 13 and 8. Pulls were unbroken. Run was gimpy. Felt pretty good after, hope that means I COULD HAVE PR'd if things were moving/feeling proper like.

Did 8x60m walking sled drags after with 90#. Then did 6x40m walking backwards at 90# as well. Both fwd and bkwd lit my hips on fire but low back went unaffected. I also did 4x10 sets of reverse hypers with 25#, and yoke walked after each set with 180# loaded. The rev hypers lit my back up around rep 7 today. Finally, did tabata abmat sit-ups touching the post each time... count was sumthin like 14-13-13-13-12-12-12-12. Stretched a bit after as well.

WRECKED

Helen

8:44 PR by :34

This is the absolute worst I have ever felt post WOD, BUT... it was completely worth it. I did kb's unbroken until number 15 of 3rd round. Pu's went unbroken until I think number 6 of 3rd round. Everything else is a nauseating haze. Sub 8:30 is the next goal.

Slice Like A Ninja, Cut Like A Razor Blade

Helen
3 rounds for time of:
400m run
21 kettlebell swings, 1.5 pood
12 pull-ups

I always get a sick feeling when I see this WOD. Maybe because it's an absolute gut-wrencher. Maybe because it was my very first CrossFit WOD and it left a lasting impression. Maybe it's because I dated a girl named Helen that ripped my heart out. Whatever the reason Helen gives me the hibby-jibbies. I suppose the good news is that I 've made steady progress against her everytime we've met.
Today I ALMOST went unbroken. KB swings and pull-ups were solid until the third round. On third round KBs I stopped at 15, took a breath, and then knocked out the remaining 6. Third round pull-ups were similiar... pulled 9 then struggled with the remaining 3.
On the runs I just tried to stay relaxed, find a pace, and keep it. Nothing spectacular here, but in the future I'll need to get faster on the runs if I wanna see any kind of significant time improvement. I don't think much more time will be shaved of the two other movements even if I'm able to do all reps unbroken. Maybe another 15 seconds? Maybe more if I can get a fluid butterfly kip going...

Today's time: 9:18
I sliced 1:22 off my previous PR of 10:40.
Golden.

Heartbreaker

“Helen”

3 Rounds, for time of:

400m Run
53 pound Kettlebell Swings, 21 reps
12 Pull-Ups

10:40 with 53# and no band… prolly should’ve been a sub 10 but I gassed out on the final round. This is still approximately two-minutes faster than my first Helen which, I didn't know it at the time, I was put through during my initial assessment/fundamentals course. I'm pretty sure I used a lighter kettlebell at that time as well.
